The Center for Reading Recovery and Literacy Collaborative (CRRLC) is looking for two trainers to work at a national level helping teachers improve literacy instruction. Led by Dr. Irene Fountas, CRRLC has been engaged in innovative, research-based, system-wide educational improvement efforts for thirty years. Our highly skilled scholar practitioners work as a team to provide a range of professional development offerings via institutes, courses, in-person trainings, and on-line. Job Description:

Work nationally as a staff developer conducting professional learning for Grades PreK-2 educators and administrators for the Center for Reading Recovery and Literacy Collaborative (CRRLC). Work with a team to develop professional development programs based on current research on effective literacy teaching practices. The successful candidate will receive extensive training and mentoring in adult learning and literacy teaching and learning.

Essential Functions:

  • Participate in a continuous professional learning environment.
  • Plan and deliver professional development and course offerings that include Literacy Collaborative, Leveled Literacy Intervention, and specialized institutes for school leaders and literacy coaches.
  • Collaboratively design and deliver online and face-to-face literacy professional development and graduate level courses for teachers, coaches, administrators and school literacy teams.
  • Coordinate with CRRLC leadership, support staff, and clients to ensure high quality completion of projects.
  • Revise and refine professional development and course offerings based on observations and ongoing monitoring.
  • Work with the team to research and develop cutting edge professional development and course offerings for a range of audiences and contexts.
  • Collaborate with CRRLC staff on marketing strategies, including conducting client information sessions, and reviewing marketing materials as requested.
  • Serve as a liaison to schools and districts implementing school-wide literacy improvement.
  • Support effective implementation of school and/or district-wide literacy improvement.
  • Train and provide guidance to members of the school community. Work with school partners to ensure continuity of training and teaching.
  • Monitor progress via site visits, telephone calls, and online communications. Maintain records of contacts using a customer database.
  • Collaborate with CRRLC faculty and school-based trainers to create publications and materials that advance the field.
  • Present at and participate in CRRLC-sponsored events and other education conferences.
  • Contribute to ongoing evaluation and improvement.
  • Work with CRRLC researchers and faculty as well as colleagues at other university training sites to guide national-level program evaluation and research. Analyze and respond to professional development and training evaluations.
  • With CRRLC team, generate ideas for training research, development and evaluation projects with potential for grant funding.

Requirements:

  • M.A. or M.Ed. in Reading Instruction, Literacy, Elementary Education, or related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years' successful literacy teaching experience, most of which should be at the PreK-2 level.
  • One of the following required: a) Literacy Collaborative training, OR b) Reading Recovery Training, OR c) Three years literacy coach/staff development experience or the equivalent.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Interest in using technology to enhance teaching.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of school stakeholders.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Word, PowerPoint), and the ability to create presentations.
  • A valid U.S. driver's license and a schedule that allows occasional evening and weekend work, as well as some travel.
  • Ability to work a 12-month schedule, M - F, 8am - 5pm, in our Cambridge location.
  • Strong administrative skills including the ability to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States; if you hold a visa, your visa status must allow you to work at Lesley University.
